About these Sites

The Via dei Coronari is a 15th-16th century Renaissance street that connects Ponte Sant'Angelo to Piazza Navona. Visit three churches along this road in the "Ponte" neighborhood of the Centro Storico that are often overlooked but are filled with beauty and tradition.

Church of San Salvatore in Lauro

Shrine of Our Lady of Loreto in Rome & St. Padre Pio Relics

The church is the Shrine of Our Lady of Loreto in Rome as it the national church of the Le Marche region of Italy. Inside are relics of St. Jude and St. Padre Pio.

According to tradition, the church was constructed over an ancient pagan temple dedicated to Europa that was surrounded by laurel plants.



Church of Santa Maria dell'Anima

A Hospice to the Pilgrims of  Rome

16th Century Baroque style church that is presently the National Church of Germany in Rome originally comissioned by Pope Innocent III to the the pilgrim church and hospice center for those visiting the Eternal City from the Holy Roman Empire. The church also contains numerous relics including a very notable one of Saint Barbara.



Church of Santa Maria della Pace

Renaissance Church with Cloister & Miraculous Icon

Dedicated to Our Lady of Peace, this church was constructed in the 15th Century after a miraculous icon started to bleed after it was struck by a man who was intoxicated. It was comissioned by Pope Sixtus IV in 1480.

Next to the convent in the Chiostro di Bramante, which he designed in the year 1500 for the adjacent convent. Today, this cloister is home to a museum and a bar for coffee and other beverages.
