Beautiful Church Built in Honor of Joachim, the Virgin Mary's Father

The Church of San Gioacchino, a serene gem in the Prati district, was built with contributions from 27 states to honor Joachim, the Virgin Mary's father, and Pope Leo XIII. This magnificent church commemorates the 50th anniversary of Pope Leo XIII's first mass.

Each contributing state offered a unique gift: Bulgaria donated a fantastic organ, and Russia provided the grand columns at the entrance. Inside, 14 small chapels represent the donor states, each uniquely enchanting.

The highlight is the dome, adorned with crystal stars, creating mesmerizing light effects—a true feast for the eyes.
