The church above the famous Spanish Steps
Towering above the famous Spanish steps, the Church of Trinità dei Monti is known for its' picturesque two bell towers - an uncommon feature in Roman architechure. Consecrated in 1594, the church holds 17 chapels each bearing the name of a family which held patronage over it during the 16th century. It was comissioned by the French King Charles VIII.
The Spanish Steps were constructed in the 18th Century to connect the church with the piazza with the boat fountain and nearby spanish embassy.
